Jamaica: Bluefields Bay Villas and Suites

AIRPORT AND TRANSFERS

Sangster International Airport (MBJ), Montego Bay. Approximately 70 - 75 minutes by road.

A new road opening in winter 2026 will shorten this.

Included in the rate:

  • Club MoBay VIP airport services at MBJ — fast-track immigration, lounge access, priority baggage, on arrival and departure

Arranged separately:

  • Private ground transfer between MBJ and the resort

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL GUEST

  • Young families who want an actual vacation. Nannies are included, not charged by the hour, so parents get the holiday rather than running one

  • Multigenerational families who want everyone under one roof with their own staff, rather than a block of hotel rooms

  • Couples and small groups who want genuine privacy and have outgrown the large-resort experience

  • Guests who value being looked after by people who know them by the second day, not by a service standard

  • Travelers curious about Jamaica beyond the north coast strips, and comfortable on a quieter coast

  • Repeat Caribbean travelers who understand what an all-inclusive rate with dedicated staff is actually worth

  • Wellness and retreat organizers looking to take a whole property for a week

TOP 5 REASONS TO VISIT BLUEFIELDS BAY

  • You are looked after by your own people. A chef, a butler, a housekeeper and a nanny, for your party alone. They learn your names on the first day and how you take your coffee by the second, and by the end of the week they are asking after your children by name.

  • Nothing to decide and nothing to sign. Every meal, every drink, every hour with the nanny is already in the rate. No menus with prices, no bar tabs, no bill at the end. Parents get a holiday rather than the job of running one.

  • A window into one of the most charming and loving societies on earth. Bluefields is a working village on the South Coast, and the people who look after you are from it. Guests leave having met Jamaica rather than a resort's version of it.

  • A private stretch of shoreline on a coast most visitors never reach. No cruise ships, no strip, no crowds. A quiet bay, a long beach, and the sea to yourselves.

  • Forty years of the same family and much of the same staff. People have grown up here, raised children here, and taught the next generation to cook. Two percent of every stay goes back into the community through the Bluefields Bay Villas Foundation.

TOP 5 MUST DO'S AT OR AROUND BLUEFIELDS BAY

  • YS Falls — 45 minutes

  • Black River Safari — 40 minutes

  • Appleton Estate — 1 hour

  • A walk through the community with your own groundskeeper, who grew up in it

  • Floyd's Pelican Bar — a stilt bar on a sandbar out in the sea off Parottee, 1 hour

3 PLACES YOUR PEERS OFFER WHEN OFFERING BLUEFIELDS BAY

  • Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Jamaica

  • Jumby Bay Island, Antigua

  • Tryall Club, Jamaica

resort vibe

  • Staffed private villas, not a hotel

  • All-inclusive without what that word usually implies. Every meal, the bar and the staff are in the rate, and quality is the entire point — cooked to order by your own chef, not assembled on a buffet line

  • Family owned and run for more than forty years

  • Quiet South Coast, away from the resort strips

  • Barefoot and unhurried, with service that is personal rather than formal

ACCOMMODATION STYLE

  • Six private villas, each with its own dedicated chef, housekeeper, butler and grounds team

  • Four one-bedroom suites

  • Private shoreline on Bluefields Bay

  • Villas taken whole — one party, one house, one staff

San Michele is in active reconstruction and reopens in summer 2027.

NEXT LEVEL

  • Menus designed by your own chef and built around the party, including any dietary restriction you bring, with at least a hint of Jamaican flavor in every bite

  • The Treehouse at sunset

  • Go out on the bay with a fisherman who has worked it his whole life, bring back what you catch, and have your chef cook it for you that same day

  • A morning at a local organic farm, among fruit and vegetables most guests have never seen — soursop, guinep, otaheite apple, naseberry, star apple — and the pimento that gives Jamaican cooking its backbone

INSIDER TIP OR UNGOOGLABLES

  • Two percent of every stay funds the Bluefields Bay Villas Foundation, which runs in the community year-round and is not a line on a brochure

  • Three full-time carpenters are on payroll, which is why the houses look the way they do after forty years in salt air

  • From November 2026 the entire resort runs on solar. Close to ninety staff, six villas, four suites and every kitchen, powered by the sun on an island where the grid is neither cheap nor reliable

  • When Hurricane Melissa came through Bluefields in October 2025, the resort became the community relief hub — covered by Newsweek, the Jamaica Observer and the Gleaner

  • The chefs are trained here, over years, by our international consulting chef

  • The Hermitage is steeped in Jamaica's architectural heritage rather than architect-designed

The Hermitage and Mullion Cove together accommodate up to 21 guests. From summer 2027, San Michele reopens with seven bedrooms for up to 16, and full-resort buyouts return.

  • A private bathroom to almost every bedroom, several with double sinks and indoor-outdoor showers opening onto private gardens

  • Air conditioning, robes, turndown and coffee in the villa

  • Sea views, west-facing terraces for the sunset, West Indian louver windows and doors, and shaded verandahs

MEAL PLANS

There is no meal plan to choose. All meals, snacks and beverages, including the open bar, are included in the rate for every guest, for the whole stay.

The Jamaica villa standard is a cook included and food at the guest's expense, with GCT, service charge, gratuity and club fees stacked on top. Here the quoted rate is the number the guest pays.

  • All meals prepared in your villa by your own chef

  • Your chef plans each day's meals with you, and dietary requirements are handled as a matter of course

  • Open bar throughout the stay

  • The Treehouse — coffee and drinks for all guests; dining reserved for Suite guests
