Francis Ford Coppola discovered La Lancha Resort, a lakeside idyll on the shores of Lago Petén Itza, located on a steep jungle-clad escarpment.  This quaint 1- room lodge offers a languid pace, spectacular panoramic views over the crystalline lake, and a window into the lost world of Maya.  Located nearby to the magnificent Maya ruins of Tikal, you can easily spend an entire day with a tour guide exploring the Great Plaza and along the Tozzer Causeway to Temple III. You’ll explore the Mundo Perdido and then climb the 64 meter high Temple IV enjoying panoramic views over the forest canopy.  Your local guide can lead you through the jungle trails with many opportunities to spot Howler and Spider Monkeys as well as observing 300 or so species of birds found in the Tikal National Park.
